BIO

As music director of the current The
Playdate Kids Musical Series, Tim Friedlander provides appealing
music for ears of all ages. He received his Bachelors degree in
Music Performance with a Minor in Psychology from Western Washington
University and is currently working on his Master's degree in Music
Education at Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA.
Tim currently teaches music full time in the Pacific Palisades,
Brentwood and Hollywood as well as privately throughout the Los
Angeles area.
In addition to work on The Playdate Kids series,
Tim is an active performing clarinetist and guitarist. He has worked
with artists such as Tevin Campbell and Tyrese and with organizations
such as The Orange Country Performing Arts Center and Macy's. As
a composer, his music can be heard everywhere from the local clubs
to independent movie soundtracks as well DVD's for the San Diego
Marathon and the City of Cerritos.
Tim's musical contribution
to The Playdate Kids series is a true gift to music lovers of
all ages. He hopes to inspire children through his music and
make a positive affect on each of their lives. Tim's songs have
hip, happy beats that children devour and adults enjoy.
HISTORY
Born-May 17, 1974 Spokane WA
Raised on commune and indian reservation in Harrison,
Idaho
1984-Moved to Boise, Idaho Took up cello and
trumpet, later switched to clarinet (the keys were shinier)
1985-Moved to Mount Vernon, WA (1hr N. of Seattle-
continued clarinet, acting, soccer, baseball, etc)
1987-starts playing guitar
1987-forms first band and plays "Wipe Out" for
8th grade talent show. Kicks a**!!!
1991-elected drum major, student conductor of Mount
Vernon High School Band
1992-wins John Phillip Sousa Band Award
1992-1994 Attends Skagit Valley College in
Mount Vernon, WA
1992-forms new band called Joy Time. Later,
becomes Shag!
1994- records one and only album with Shag! called "Puppy
Killers Inc." Tim later wishes people could tell when
he was being sarcastic.
1995-Shag! disbands
1995-Tim starts Western Washington University in
Bellingham, WA
1995-96-Tim is part of the undefeated WWU crew
team. Puts on 30 pounds in 9 months and cuts off all of his hair. "All
muscle, baby" he is later heard to remark
1995-1998 Tim studies music at WWU. Jazz
guitar with Chuck Israels, Clarinet with Eugene Zorro and voice
with Jack Morris
1998-Tim graduates from WWU with a degree in music
and a minor in psychology
1998- Forms "Fat Albert Rotunda", a 9
piece funk band, with his college roommates. Goes on to bring
to the funk to Bellingham, WA
NY's Eve 1999-Tim fulfills his dream of playing
Princes "1999" on New Years
Eve!
Feb. 2001- Tim moves to Seattle.
Aug. 2001-Sept 2002- Tim DJ's at "Funsters
Grand Casino"
Sept 2002- Tim packs up everything
and moves to LA!!! No job, no place to live but he finds a place
and settles in.
